The Rickman Brothers, Derek and Don, entered the Kit Car Industry with the Rickman Ranger. This was following their considerable experience in steel and G.R.P fabrication. They also provided kits for other manufacturers on a sub-contract basis. During the Rickman Company period they produced the Convertible, Space Ranger and Rancher, all based on the Mk 1/2 Ford Escort. And finally the sporty Metisse, which is Ford Sierra based. As more and more cars were built and put on the road it was decided to form a club – the “Rickman Cars Owners Club”. This grew quite considerably in the first few years with the membership peaking at over 700 members. Over 1000 vehicles were built by the Rickman factory in New Milton, Hampshire. Car production continued later by the Lomax Company. Many cars are still owned today by the original car builders. The “Rickman Cars Owners Club” own the UK manufacturing and marketing rights, along with the ability to procure spares including some of the smaller G.R.P. mouldings. The Club also creates a focal point for anything Rickman car related, and produces a Club newsletter at least 4 times a year for its members. ✓ POTENTIAL DISCOUNT INSURANCE* * at discretion of insurance provider.
